Speaker Guidelines & Tips

Are you thinking about sharing your expertise at Game Access '27? Whether you are a seasoned speaker or taking the stage for the first time, we want to help you deliver the best possible presentation.

To ensure our attendees get the most out of every session, we've put together a few guidelines and tips for crafting your talk.

Choose your format

We offer two time slots for presentations. Please note that your chosen time slot must include a Q&A session.

45 minutes 40–42 min talk
3–5 min Q&A
25 minutes 20–22 min talk
3–5 min Q&A

Go deep, not broad

Advanced content preferred

Our audience consists primarily of game industry professionals, developers, and passionate creators. Because of this, we highly prefer advanced, deep-dive talks over general overviews. Attendees gain much more value when you dissect a very specific detail, pipeline, or challenge of your work. Don't be afraid to get technical, show your messy work-in-progress files or dive deep into your craft.

Keep it fresh

A unique experience

We want to give our attendees a unique experience. Therefore, we try to avoid selecting talks that have already been presented in the exact same format at other recent or neighboring conferences. If you've given a similar talk before, consider updating it with new insights, a different angle, or a deeper dive into a specific segment for Game Access.

Thinking about what to talk about?

Struggling to pin down the perfect topic? Here are a few ideas that always resonate well with our audience:

The Anatomy of a Feature

Take one specific mechanic, shader, or narrative beat and break down exactly how you built it from day one to launch.

Glorious Failures

Post-mortems of things that went wrong and the hard lessons you learned to fix them.

Pipeline Hacks

Specific tools or workflows your team developed to save time and sanity.

Case Studies

Real data, real results, and real feedback from your latest project.

Pro-tips: deliver an unforgettable talk

Drawing inspiration from presentation experts and concepts from books, here are a few tips to elevate your stage presence:

  1. Passion is Contagious: You can't inspire others if you aren't inspired yourself. Choose a topic that genuinely excites you - your enthusiasm will naturally transfer to the audience.
  2. Tell a Story: Even highly technical talks benefit from a narrative arc. Structure your presentation like a story: introduce the core problem (the villain), share your struggles and iterations (the journey), and reveal your final solution (the triumph).
  3. Create a "Jaw-Dropping" Moment: Give the audience something to remember. This could be an interesting live demo, an unexpected workaround you discovered, or a visual that perfectly encapsulates your point.
  4. Show, Don't Just Tell: Keep text on your slides to a minimum. Use high-quality images, videos, charts, or code snippets to support your words, not duplicate them.
  5. Practice the Pacing: Rehearse your talk out loud multiple times. This not only helps you nail your exact timing (leaving room for that Q&A 🙂) but also makes your delivery feel more conversational and less rehearsed.

Need a test audience?

We have a partnership with a public speaking school (Učit Brno). If your talk is accepted and you'd like to run through it with them, let us know. Subject to available capacity, we'll gladly arrange a practice session and consultation for you.
